“The Undefeated” Emerald Coast
What would John Wayne tell Mrs. Langdon about “windage and elevation” along the Emerald Coast of Florida?
Well, first there is an ocean breeze varying from refreshing light to strong in stormy conditions, which can impact ball flight on any of the 11 gorgeous golf courses. When one of the courses is named Regatta Bay Golf and Country Club, you know that the wind also serves a sailing community. Visitors can hop on a yacht for a dinner cruise or sail solo on a sunfish.
Perhaps Mrs. Langdon would like to listen to woodwinds. She might check the schedule at Fudpucker’s waterfront restaurant on Okaloosa Island for a Jazz Orchestra dinner show. Or the famous Jonesin’ for Jazz band plays weekly in Destin at AJ’s, Ruth’s Chris and Bric a Brac. Detroit’s Cheryl Jones mixes up some funky music with her merry men. Google for venues and times to absorb the vibes.
Now as for elevation, there is much to consider on golf courses along the northern coast of Florida except for some rolling hills. For an elevated adrenalin rush, hop on a boat and strap on the harness or buckle into the double seat of a parasail with a pal. As the boat zooms forward, the colorful sail rises above, lifting you into the sky for a bird’s eye view of the emerald coast lined by white sand beaches.
You will see all the hotel and golf course options for later activities. The wind might shift a little and alter your course putting a flutter in your belly. You might even be a bit scared and then you spot the large manta ray gliding through the translucent water below and fear is replaced with a sense of awe.
Awesome is the word most people use to describe a parasailing ride, which should be on any adventurer’s bucket list. The hues and views of the Emerald Coast make it the optimum spot to parasail and boats abound to accommodate.
That, Mrs. Langdon, is what “windage and elevation” are all about along the Emerald Coast.
