Activities To Enjoy With Your Favorite Foursomes
We love hitting a sports trifecta and one that is truly fun combines golf, fishing and skeet shooting.
Here are our top three resort choices to enjoy these three activities with your favorite foursomes.
- Mount Falcon
“You’re very welcome” at Mount Falcon in the baronial lodge or lakeside suites in Northern Ireland. Robert is renowned for fly tying and teaches the graceful technique of whipping the line like a conductor’s baton to reel fish in from the 3-acre lake. Exclusive wild Atlantic salmon are caught on the 2 miles of double banks on the adjoining River Moy or sea angling can be arranged.
Stewart teaches clay shooting – a steady motion, lock eye with flying target, squeeze the trigger; follow through, much like golf. A nine bay driving range provides on site practice for the 12 golf courses within an hour drive, all in between the falconry display and fine dining options.
- Fox Harb’r
Fox Harb’r is a luxurious, self-contained seaside sports complex in Nova Scotia. There is nothing sly about it, rather a straightforward beauty. The front of the 18 championship holes is a peaceful parkland walk complementing ocean views on each of the back nine holes. A fun, quick executive nine is played by the sea wall with trails for walking, biking and horseback riding.
The Sports Lodge is center to the clay shooting activity while pheasants call out from the grasslands and two ponds are available to learn the art of fly-fishing. This is a catch and release activity except when placed on the menu by Chef Shane. Accommodations include a heated bathroom floor and balconies with views.
Wake up to Tim Horton’s coffee, of course as owner Ron Joyce was the cofounder of the restaurant chain. Later, enjoy the award winning coastal wines, soon from the vines on premise. More golf holes and an expanded spa are in the works.
Meanwhile, simply reflecting on the rock wall over the ocean is rejuvenating. Fox Harb’r keeps getting better and better.
- Cabin Bluff
Where PGA Pro Matt Kuchar was wed, golf whenever and however many holes you choose on the six-hole course designed by Davis Love III with multiple tee box and pin positions, a layout intriguing enough to play again and again as deer prance through bunkers and storks light in trees, flapping wings and clapping beaks like a ballet show.
If your golf swing isn’t there, grab a rod and reel. Fish the day away at the inter coastal South Georgian dock or hop on Captain Toby’s boat as he reveals the history, the wild horses living on Cumberland Island for over 500 years as well as the best fishing holes and techniques.
If hunting is your passion, over 27,000 acres are prime real estate for quail, wild boar, and whitetail deer. Custom wagons carry hunters and highly trained bird dogs to the protected woods while skeet stations are strategically positioned for shooting instruction or practice.
Poolside seating and swings in the oak trees laden with lacy moss are perfect for simply relaxing.WHAT'S YOUR REACTION?
