Our Bermuda Triangles have been very positive experiences, exciting, and adventurous with happy endings. Rather than disappearances, we’ve had revelations of stunning views, fabulous food and entertainment. Our first Bermuda triangle during the Fairmont Golf Invitational at Fairmont Southampton was a trio of great golf courses – Turtle Hill Golf Club, Mid Ocean Golf Club and Port Royal. All three involve turquoise ocean scenery and lush vegetation with purple morning glory vines entwined with bright hibiscus blooms and low season winds from a light breeze to gale force intensity.
The Fairmont Southampton is a pampering resort perched high above and between the beach house below on the east side and the harbor below on the west side. Guests have access to all of Bermuda from this prominent location in the Turtle Hill area. The connected Turtle Hill Golf Course is an addictive 18 holes, par 3 course with more character than most full size layouts. Many holes have stunning views of the glimmering sea. It is an up and down hill round with number 16 facing the oldest and tallest lighthouse on the island. Visit after, climbing 185 steps to the top. Six landings showcase its history. A little door opens to the outside rail for a thrilling 360-degree walk around. Look directly down and butterflies will flit in the belly. The construction of the 2017 America’s Cup Village can be seen across the bay at the Dockyard where crews are already practicing.
Balconies at the Fairmont Southampton overlook the ocean as well as the golf course and/or lighthouse, depending on the angle. Beds are so comfortable, you will want one at home and if you do, you can purchase any component or the whole bed at the Fairmont Store online for delivery to your door.
The Fairmont Southampton is just ducky. An assortment of mallards, wood, odd and more varieties might be confusing this Fairmont with the Peabody Hotel. They waddle and huddle at the golf shop, and at resort shuttle stops. The shuttles are driven efficiently with drivers dispatching history as they transport to the beach, the dock, and Bacci, but that is another Bermuda Triangle. Stay tuned for Part II.
